My filter that I replace every 6 months has two "o" rings on it that keep it from leaking....are you thinking of something else?
get a tiny hose clamp and tighten it around where the hose connects to the pipe
Use the proper filter.
Basically you can't. Every time to change the filter you should change the water line as well. Every time you "mess with" the filter or line can cause shifting of the fittings. Use high quality water lines and change the "O" rings each time. These water lines to fridges are notoriously weak and even when the water turns on and off in the fridge can cause the line to shift or loosen. I like making ice the old fashioned way and won't risk another leak!
It sounds ike you need to replace the filter. Best of luck!!!
