I would be concerned with water damage.... is your gutter emptying there. You might first add an extension past your walkway or relocate the downspout further away. You can also add an additional rain chain and one of those granite spillways to direct the water away from your foundation, steps and walk.
How about a pea gravel walkway or an epoxy gravel walk and maybe some large stone steps. I would get the steps done by a professional. https://www.google.com/search?q=pea+gravel+walkway+ideas&client=opera&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjVjbvXntXUAhWDMGMKHdM5CvcQ7AkIWg&biw=1366&bih=629
You could have them deliver the pea gravel, mix with epoxy, spread down on a prepared walkway that has been leveled, substrate applied, and tamped down. Then another layer of epoxy when dry. https://www.google.com/search?q=pea+gravel+walkway+ideas&client=opera&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjVjbvXntXUAhWDMGMKHdM5CvcQ7AkIWg&biw=1366&bih=629#tbm=isch&q=epoxy+pea+gravel+walkway+ideas
I also like the square pavers with irish moss between them for a nice wide walkway. https://www.google.com/search?q=pea+gravel+walkway+ideas&client=opera&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjVjbvXntXUAhWDMGMKHdM5CvcQ7AkIWg&biw=1366&bih=629#tbm=isch&q=paver+and+irish+moss+walkway
If you live in Texas, your ground will shift from time to time, forever. Texans say about cracking house foundations, "It's not a question of IF, but WHEN". Then there are earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, droughts, and just time for causes. Maybe your area is the same. Choose a solution you like and can afford. Just realize, nothing on earth is forever. Best wishes 😇
okay durable and cheap.... those two words don't go together in exterior walkways. You could have a wooden ramp designed to look like a bridge built to go over the concrete. Be sure to use the new plastic decking to help it hold up over time. If that doesn't help the the right way to fix it is to remove the old and dig down to pour a solid footer for a new one.
