I weed every day. That way I do not have to spend all day Saturday tending to the yards. Every evening playing ball in the yard with the dogs, etc. Dead head the roses, pluck at the herbs and veggies. 15 minutes to a half hour a day will make a difference and you can count it in as exercise or towards your 10,000 steps a day.
Spray with weed killer if it is legal in your area. If not legal then buy a weed wacker. Electric if the weeds are close to your electric plug in. Gas if you have a large area to cut. Weeds are never extremely easy to get rid of. But decide not to water the area because weeds love water.
Newspapers...seriously you will have NO weeds! Cover the newspaper with mulch. The newspaper will need to replaced, but not often. Works like a charm.
