Usually it is best if you only fertilize them every two weeks. Fertilizing them too much can actually do more harm then good.

Outside plantings are affected by rain so most products say every 7-10 days. Frequent moderate feedings are preferable to heavy infrequent. Plants like consistency. Indoor plants 3-4 week intervals. Read the instructions for your product. Good compost and earthworm castings can be applied without fear of overfeeding. Also too much nitrogen stimulates plant growth and will yield few flowers/fruits.

I fertilize every 2 weeks. My Bougainvillea and Hydrangea are just beautiful. Hey I want to tell everyone right now, I am not racist. I could be a man of any color!
