The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jan 27, 2014Chalk paint is more expensive than paint and not sure why you would want to use on walls. Homemade chalk paint would give you a very flat finish. What are you trying to accomplish on the walls? That may make a difference on what you would use.Helpful Reply

Val on Jan 27, 2014Hi Renee, I have a wall in a stairwell that I would like to texture or treat with a different finish. Chalk paint is something I have never used, but I'm looking into various options. Sounds like chalk paint is not one! Thanks for helping out with this. ValHelpful Reply

Cynthia E on Jan 27, 2014That's what I used joint compound to do a texture treatment over paneling and basically drywall walls (every other wall around rooms different drove me nuts) I did a stucco / plaster like treatment painted and I love now cannot tell there are 2 different orig. type walls in the room.-- the 5 gal. bucket cost me 12.00Helpful Reply
