Instead of killing it, why not dig it up and give the tree to a friend or neighbor?
Agree with Casey. Best to dig all up and replant your azalea than try to pull it up and damage your plant.
I agree! Olive trees are beautiful trees. See if you can dig it out and find a good spot for it.

My ground is incredibly hard and we cannot dig in it at all. We've tried everything to make it easier. Also, there are roots there from a fruitless mulberry tree.
