Gosh, it's hard to say....could it be a Kentucky Coffeetree? Where do you live and are all the pods like this or are some "fatter/fuller"?
Go to this site and scroll down until you see Maple, Boxelder - Samaras. Do you think you might have these trees in your neighborhood? If this does not help, I would take it to your local garden store where they have tree experts (not the big box hardware stores). Looks like pods from a maple trees. I grew up with maples in NJ.

Definitely not maple, they are the wrong shape and texture of the "helicopters" that come off them. They have a bulbous end that holds the seed and a very thin end that catches the breeze and twirls them.
Check into mimosa trees. The pods look similar to those that come from mimosas.
Could be from red bud trees.
It's a mimosa tree seed. It's a beautiful tree with pink fringe like flowers. It smells great. Unfortunately though, it's an extremely invasive tree, and will take over the world
