Good luck!
My hubby and I did it the easy way. We took out all the horrible looking old shrubs in front of the house and laid pavers down. We filled the holes back in and packed those areas down. From there we flattened down any obvious high spots and packed in dirt in the low areas. We then scraped the surface down to make the paver level with the sidewalk, adding and subtracting soil until it was level and adjusted as we set down more pavers where it was obviously off and the pavers were lower or higher on edges or middle. Once we had the pavers all laid and level we left it for a while and we walked on it to make sure nothing rocked or had sunk. When we were sure it was right we pulled a few up at a time in rows and put a strong landscape fabric underneath and laid the tiles back down and we were finished. It is still level and in place after a year. We put an outdoor loveseat on it and two end tables and barrel planters on the sides. We didn't do all the gravel and sand and all that, just went by the seat of our pants, we didn't have the money to get everything that everyone said to use to do it right.
g luck
We rented a paver trench digger at the local rental place for 2 hours at $45! It worked awesome.
