If you don't intend planting anything in the same spot as the 'trumpet vine' use diesel, because it will kill the ground that you use it on. Make sure that none goes into the storm water drain, because this method is frowned on by some people, BUT, it works, as long as you are careful with it. Hope this solves the problem.
Good luck with that. Your going to have to take a "scorched earth" tactic. Meaning, pull all you can up. Throw in trash bag. Boil some water, be careful. Pour over the whole area. Repeat until it doesn't come back. If you use chemical herbicidesā, it will kill anything in the area, and run off zone. Boiling water, white vinegar helps also.
There are stronger "commercially available" herbacides, mostly used by farmers. However unless you have the knowledge base and experience in using these chemicals, I suggest you hire a pest control firm that does yard and field spraying for unwanted plants as well as pests.
OMG I have a red and a pink one. Thank goodness they're in pots. I'm in a small unit with concrete back courtyard, if you could call it that. Thanks for the heads up. š
Try pouring boiling hot water and salt .Try and find where the main roots are if possible .You may need to do it a few times to totally eradicate it .Be patient.Good luck.
Thanks to everyone for answering my question. I have hired a Pest Control for yards and it looks like I might be Finally rid of this! This has been a nightmare!
