You could wrestle with the nails until the cows come home and end up with split broken boards, and spirits. I use a sawsall. Just place the blade between the boards and cut the nails. If you don't have an electric, there is a small switchblade type one at a reasonable price, that would be a lot of work, but still not as bad as trying to remove the nails.
There is no easy way to remove all of those nails in pallets. Cutting between the would be my best advice.
I love the "til the cows come home remark". I agree. I bought a cheap reciprocating saw just for this purpose. You can use a finishing nail to drive the nail piece back thru the wood if you want a pliers to pull it the rest of the way out once you have cut the nail. The cows still haven't come home at my house:)
