How Do You Paint Bronze Light Fixtures Silver?
We bought bronze light fixtures and want to paint them silver. How do you do so? Thank you.
I usually paint a white primer like gesso on my jars first. Chalk paint can work as a base coat as well. Then I can paint the jar with whatever color I choose. When you paint on glass, it takes several coats for the glass to become opaque. If you want to paint a design on the glass, make sure you have an opaque finish as a base.
Yoh can use a standard paint brush, a sponge brush or a spray paint to apply the paint on the jar.
Have fun!
You can either use glass or acrylic paint.
I think it depends on how you want to use it. If you want a see-through design, I think the easiest way is glass paint (Glass Gallery is what I use). If you want a design on a background color, use the gesso that Liz recommended. If you have a lot of acrylic paints around, you can use them to paint a design. (I happen to have a lot because I buy them for my grandkids. They are pretty reasonable at Walmart - after getting a big set of the basic colors. As long as your glass will be used for decorative purposes, you can then spray it with a craft spray to seal in the colors. You can spray paint the whole thing or use a marbling technique with nail polish and water. Try searching ' painting on glass techniques ' to see what you can find. Most of all, have fun!
