I like to keep a layer of at least 3 inches in my flower beds.
I like to keep about 3 inches of mulch in my flower beds.
For flower beds to keep the soil even (temp & moist) and weeds out, I go about 3 inches with cypress mulch. It stays in place better than pine.
2-3 inches
2 to 3 inches 3inches if is the first layer of mulch...2 inch top dressing the years after.
