Should I decolorize slipcovers before dying?

I have a sofa with slipcovers I can remove to wash. It's great except for the color! It's a baby poop dingy yellow canvas type material. I want to dye it a charcoal gray. Should I use decolorizer before I try to dye? Help! Any advice appreciated.

Yes decolonize before you dye them again
Use Rit Color Remover. It will remove all color and won't harm the fabric.
