How can I change a unit to fit a bigger TV?

    I would need a photo. Plus is it real wood. If not it is best to start over.

    Will the top come off and you can use the bottom for a bigger TV.

    Without a picture, it is hard to answer your question. We had the same dilemma and my husband removed the glass doors to the side of our wall unit with shelving inside. He was able to cut back the shelves to half their size and smoothed them out. We did away with the doors and left the shelves for decorative items open. He also slightly moved the shelf where the TV goes a little lower for height. This gave us greater width so we were able to put in a 52" TV.

    Without seeing your picture... My TV is in a bookcase unit. I measured the width and diagonal and purchased the largest TV that would fit. Otherwise I would have had to hang it over the fireplace and change the seating furniture placement.
