I believe it is a tiger lily but the anticipation is fun to :)
Without seeing the flower it's hard to identify. But, I'm guessing it looks like what is called Turks Cap. When it blooms all the petals turn under, exposures the center. It is speckled with tiny black dots.

I agree about it being a Asiatic Lily by looking at the plant itself.
Tiger Lily
My mother always called those Day Lilies, the flowers are orange or yellow trumpets. Some with black spots. There may be another name for these but they are hardy and bloom every year. I need to plant some! Hard to tell what color until they pop open. Have fun wondering and enjoy every year!
I agree with several others, i think it's going to be an Asiatic lilly, I would say either mauve or orange in color... The
It is a stargazer lilly. Once it finishes blooming that's it for the year. It is a bulb and also a perennial.

I agree that the type of Lily is Asiatic, however, what kind would be determined when the flower actually opens up.
Turk's Cap Lily is what I was told when one was given to me.
It is a Turban Lily and it produces seeds that fall and make more bulbs. It is very prolific and can grow up to 6 feet. I love them and you can share the seeds one the plant has flowered. They are very easy to grow.
