Do you need a standing table, or could you put in a shelf where you think the table should go? You could easily add a shelf and keep the floor space for a waste basket....just a thought.

Consider using a crate placed on its side. You get a table top w storage inside.

What I did was go to my local equivalent of Home Depot to find a run-of-the-mill unfinished wooden 4-legs stool. I then asked them to cut me a nice piece of plywood to the square dimensions I wanted. I bought them and some wood glue. I sanded the stool and wiped it clean and did the same with the plywood. I painted the seat of the stool with wood glue and then sat the square on top of it. I stacked a bunch of books on top of my new small accessories table. That is when I realized I need to go back to the store to buy some thin wood to glue onto the sides, I chose 1/2 round that was a bit wider than the plywood was thick. Using a hacksaw I mitered the ends and glued them to the edge of the plywood leaving a small lip of wood on the top. I used big thick rubber bands to to hold two sides at once so 4 rubber bands. A couple days of glue drying and I painted it, aged it, finished coated it and I was done. It was a smart idea to place the lip on there as that kept me from losing many earring backs.

If you mean small as in tiny, tiny... I have done it!

I cut a 4 inch board, 20 inches long (or whatever size you want)

That was the top... then I cut another one the same size, that was the bottom.

Then for the legs, I cut 2 lengths of 2 by 2,,,whatever height you want.

(You could even use the same boards as the top for wide side supports.)

Make any size... cut the boards 10 inches if you need really small.

Center the 2 legs on the sides.

(You can put towels and face cloths on the bottom shelf,

and something decorative on the top shelf.)

    Assembly:

Glue and nail the 2 by 2's to the sides of the boards:

Place the bottom board approx. 2 inches above the floor.

Place the top board 1/2 inch above the top board.

    Sand and paint or stain.

If you use the stool method you could put small shelves down the legs with round boards and L brackets and put small decorative items or hand towels or even plants.

you could take a small mirror or picture frame, round, square or rectangle and glue it to a long candlestick holder.... small, simple and pretty!

I installed a shelf over the toilet, that I found for free. I used to have a very small stand. . . it originally was an umbrella stand I think. I had three pieces of glass fit to make interior shelves and used that for towels. Like most bathrooms mine lacked floor space.
