Hostas
Oops! That is wrong they love Hostas! But you can put shavings of any kinds of soap around the borders of your plantbeds and they HATE the smell of soap!

deer don't like daffodils-early spring. Supposedly they don't like Mountain Laurel (for bushes that bloom), roses are also good. You also need to PREVENT the deer from coming to dine! They carry ticks (Lyme Disease) and are just destructive (beautiful creatures -but from a distance! ha) Human hair (local barber?!) and yes, even human urine (mix with water for a spray around and near plants) I toss moth balls out around the perimeter of my yard - away from the house and house pets. I have recently started using clumps of CAT pee to sprinkle around the outside of my house - keeps mice and other mammals away - WE don't smell it after an hour or so - THEY smell it for a week or more unless it rains... then you have to reapply (all of the methods are not RAIN proof) -- contact your local EXTENSION service...GOOD LUCK
Deer will usually not bother any plant with a strong scent. They do not like gardenias, lavender, rosemary, etc. You could try some of those in your area.
Marigolds are not their favorite. The more bitter the less they like. Also it is the fresh succulent young greenery they are after so the more flower covered , like marigold, the less interest. Best to surround your plants with chicken wire laid on the ground, they hate to step on it. You can spray paint it to blend in.
