I bought this poor end table that I found at a yard sale and gave it new life.
I only paid $5 for this end table
First I sanded the top and scuffed the base of the table so the paint would stick.
I wanted to add something artful to the table top. I decided to ketch something myself! I sketched a butterfly on the top. You can find a desired pic on google or do what I did, fold a piece of paper in half and sketch half of the image you want and cut it out and unfold it and trace the outline and fill it in.
I used water color paint and painted the butterfly. Then I used fine sandpaper to scuff up the painting so it didn't look so new and freshly painted. I wanted the image to look a little faded.
Then I spray painted the original knobs black, pay attention to all the details!
I painted the base and the drawer front white and let it dry. Then I used sand paper to scuff off some of the paint. I then sprayed a clear coat on to seal .
Voila! Finished, I love my new butterfly table!
Enjoyed the project?

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What finish did you put on the top?
I read the answer to the question about the stain, and I really like this and I want to try it, but I don't understand it yet. Could you please give me step-by-step instructions just for the table top? I would greatly appreciate it. I know you sanded, then painted the butterfly with watercolor paints. Then what, exactly? THANKS!
Did u free hand the butterfly
