Birch Branch Decor Ideas

After the big ice storm last month in Toronto, our end of the city suffered much tree damage. While walking my dog, we picked up and brought home a number of nice straight, white branches to perhaps use as decor inside and out. Do you have any non-Christmas / winter ideas for using these branches?
So far, I have made a small display in my foyer but I am looking for some new ideas.
See my blog post at http://nicerthannew.com/2014/01/birch/
This is some of my stash. Non are longer than 3 or 4 feet.
A simple display in my foyer.

You could wire them or nail them together to make a star.

I once saw in the front of a lovely decor store they had used birch branches in the center of their very tall planter pots on each side of their entrance door. Around the branches they had put in moss and some of those faux sedums that look very real. It was a beautiful winter arrangement. I like what you've done with yours. I've just gotten some and am mulling over some different ideas for them.

Get out there and get some more and remove the bark for other projects (well...that's what I would do). These branches would look good in a sturdier vase, black ceramic or Asian-inspired. I'd like to see them in a vase that does not echo their long, slender look. Slice them up for coasters or magnets. Slice them up to use as trim on a worn-wood table.

Curtain rods! Cut them shorter to display them in an attractive log caddy or in a fireplace that's not being used. (rare these days). Slice them thinner for picture or mirror frames. Use a hole saw and line up holes to place tea candles in (very cool) or LED candles! What a great find!
