Debi on Jan 31, 2014You could use pvc pipe, but make sure it will support the amount of weight you will put on it. Watering makes plants heavier.......so depending on the diameter of the pipes, you will need to put enough of them vertically on the length of the top you use. If you can get your hands on some old pallets those will make nice benches for your purpose. Take them apart and remake into a bench. You could also use old folding closet doors as a top for either one. I personally would just make it from wood. 2 x 4's and whatever decking or wood I have laying around. Old table legs, broken yard tool handles, stacked patio blocks or bricks, even pieces of plywood or siding placed vertically will all work for legs. Use a level to ensure it is useable.Helpful Reply

KathrynElizabeth Etier on Feb 01, 2014If you want an industrial look, use metal plumbing pipes, they withstand the weather better than PVC. You could also be on the lookout for used banquet tables (the folding kind they use in churches and schools) at thrift shops or on Craig's list. Or three nightstands or file cabinets with a door on top--the piece in the center will help support the plants and door. Using book cases to support the top would also give you storage for empty pots, tools, etc.Helpful Reply
