How do you measure for fabric for kitchen chairs.

Moxie on Feb 01, 2014I like to leave myself plenty of room ...often chairs are bigger in the front than the back..so just cut squares of fabric to the largest size (front to back, plus thickness of padding you want, plus 4" or so to tack underneath) and you should be good. When I did mine I used 1" foam and a layer of thin quilt batting...I'm sure the thickness of the pad is up to you. Make sure you run the grain of the fabric the same on each seat. Hope that helps and good luck with your project!Helpful Reply

Kari Samuel on Feb 02, 2014lots of extra fabric! it's easier to cut some extra off than it is to wish it was there when you are half way through the job! i replaced the padding, using 1 1/2 inch foam. tacked that down (without the adhesive spray) and then flipped the seat upside down on the fabric. i start at the 4 sides, leaving the corners for last... google it. you CAN do it!! and then post pictures!! :)Helpful Reply

Marlene Haigh on Sep 14, 2015Be sure to buy extra fabric especial if you have a fabric with a pattern or nap. Also use the old material as a pattern. You will need new foam if the old is old. Try to mat or slightly increase the thickness as the old foam may be condensed.Helpful Reply
