Any ideas on hooking into a cast iron septic line to add a new comode
-
Moxie on Feb 01, 2014You may want to leave this one up to a plumber...but once you get to the line (bust out concrete or whatever to access line I don't know if you are slab on grade or just under the floor in warmer climate area) they have a hot tap fitting that is like a saddle shape that fits over the existing sanitary line with a pipe attached and a hole is made in the line to connect the new line to the existing. The key here is "gravity", the line needs to run down to the existing so the elevation of your existing line will determine if you can tie in where you want to..then you continue the line to your water closet (toilet) location and install the proper flange which will receive a wax ring and hold the head of the bolts that you snug down the toilet to. -- set a toilet fixture, run cold water to it (don't forget the shut off valve) and tada...pooping on the porch lolHelpful Reply
