New kitchen faucet advice?
arc (?) faucet, but don't want to pay "high" price. I do see one with individual hot and cold handles, I am really unsure if this is the way to go, tho price wise it is more affordable. It is 129, and that is pretty much where I want to be. Any suggestions? FYI, this is an old double wide mhome and I don't want to put a lot more into it than we already have. And we may not be here too much longer, hopefully.

Z on Feb 02, 2014Bernice,there's quite a few single control faucets on HoDe by Delta Classic and Delta Collins that are well under a hundred dollars. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-Classic-Single-Handle-Kitchen-Faucet-in-Chrome-101-DST/202042359?N=5yc1vZarvl http://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-Classic-Single-Handle-Kitchen-Faucet-in-Chrome-100-DST/100686508?N=5yc1vZarvl http://www.homedepot.com/p/202042369?N=5yc1vZarvl http://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-Collins-Single-Handle-Side-Sprayer-Kitchen-Faucet-in-Chrome-440-WE-DST/202042458?N=5yc1vZarvlHelpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Feb 03, 2014The higher arching faucets are great! I have one and bought mine at Home Depot on clearance for less than $60. Check out clearance aisles in your home stores for deals on closeouts and such. check out warranties too and saving the box and receipt is a must if something should happen. good luck!Helpful Reply

Z on Feb 03, 2014@Bernice, Renee's comments about warranty reminded me that HoDe once replaced a Glacier Bay bathroom faucet of ours when it started leaking. They were going to replace the second faucet in the same bathroom so they'd match when I noticed the display had a different drain pull knob. When I picked up the boxes I realized it was just the display that someone had placed the wrong one in so we only took one faucet. I'm not sure they do that anymore, but we were told they back their own store brand products for life. You might want to look into that. I just order this Glacier Bay "bar faucet" last week for our basement wood work shop bathroom's utility sink. We've not received it yet so I can't tell you more about it, but it's a great price. Check out both finishes it comes in as they are priced differently. http://www.homedepot.com/p/202070870?N=5yc1vZarvlZn7Helpful Reply

Bernice H on Feb 03, 2014@Z @The Garden Frog with C Renee I appreciate your help. Becky I was looking at the faucets you send links to, when it says arch is 4.31, where are they measuring from? the base of the faucet itself? Is 4 inches higher than the standard height of a standard kitchen faucet? Or is it really an arch so you can get a big pan under it? oohhh I hate shopping ........and I am assuming you both agree not separate water handles, but a swivel /one water handle?Helpful Reply

Bernice H on Feb 03, 2014aarrggghhh I am really getting bummed out with posting. seems I cant finish what I start as above. anyway @Z I read the comments and some feel it is too short for a kitchen sink reaching over into the sink itself? one commented , 2 1/2 inch reach into the sink. A lot to think about I like reading peoples comments , lots of things I don't think about or know about!Helpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Feb 03, 2014I have a question or two for you: how deep is your sink? and what is on there now? My faucet is separate from the handle-one single handle that controls hot and cold. I love this so I only have to push it up with the back of my hand if my hands are dirty. If you have to turn on the faucets with your hands dirty then you have more germs and yuck to clean. If you are not in a hurry then I would check each of them out and check the clearance aisles in your stores because if someone returns one they could not get back in box it is usually 1/2 off. I have a deep cast iron sink and a high arching faucet. I can get any pan including my 8 qt stock pot in there to fill. Also check out eBay. I just did for you (I have an eBay store now and buy so many things on there now!) They have some awesome faucets on there that are great prices! I may even switch mine out.Helpful Reply

Home By Design - Lorelei Taylor on Feb 03, 2014Bernice, Becky's advice is great about the configuration and lower prices of the right sized faucets. Please do keep in mind that both Home Depot and Lowe's products are all "B" grade hence the lower prices. Typically, they offer either a 90 day or one year warranty, but no labor for replacements. In a manufactured home which you may not be staying in, a lower price is a great consideration, but few know about the lower quality levels of the items that you purchase at big box home improvement stores. Sorry if this adds to your being overwhelmed, but hopefully can lead you to a great long term solution.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Feb 04, 2014Hi Bernice, lower cost faucets such as those your looking for is not a very good value. There is a lot of pressure applied to the faucet tap when moving it side to side and it can easily damage the fixture and cause leakage. The better the quality of faucet you purchase, the more likely it will last a longer time. Many of the low end faucets are plastic coated with chrome finish. Not sure? Bring a magnet to the store when checking them out. White metal and plastic are low end units and they will not attract the magnet.Helpful Reply
