I stripped the laminate off my doors. Just slide a scraper under the crack and it should peel off easily. On more 'difficult' areas, you can apply heat using a hair dryer or hot air gun, and continue scraper under the laminate until it peels off. I used V33 paint (they've got paint for almost anything). Or use specially formulated paint for laminate from other suppliers. I didn't treat before painting and haven't had any problems.
