How can I made homemade chalk paint?

I would like to paint some furniture. I love the chalk paint look but it's so costly. Is there a home made version you can share?

Mix 1/3 cup of plaster of Paris and 1/3 cup of cool water; stir until completely smooth. Mix that with 1 cup of latex paint and stir thoroughly. This will makeenough chalk-finish paint for one coat on a six-drawer dresser. Chalk-finish paint should not be stored and reused.

At Home Depot in the paint department they have posted a "recipe" for chalk paint that is just water, latex paint and plaster of paris. Try your local Home Depot paint department and I think they will have everything you need.

Similar to 'Just Retired's' recipe , but I use 2tbls of plaster of paris, 1/4 cup of warm water. Mix until smooth and then add 1 cup of paint. Paint must be latex (the testers work great , I buy them on sale for a buck and they are approx. 1 cup!) and flat or satin. Gloss does not work well.
