Start by deciding where you want it and then the sun conditions and what types of hostas you want. I love to mix in all the different colors, but some are more shade so be careful. I like to add some small white flowers in between for a shock of color.
Hi Sharon, I like to plant tall plants in the back and then graduate the sizes down towards the front. You could plant "elephant" hostas in the back. Their leafs are huge. Then maybe a couple different types in front of that. I like variegated hostas. They have a couple different shades of green in them. Just remember that hostas like shade and a moist soil. If you have deer in your area, just be aware that this is one of their favorite foods! Other than that, any nice shaded area will do.
