Why not consider refinishing the hardwood ? It's always a classic look and it increases the value of your home .
Johan I think your question may be you have carpeting and you now want to remove it and paint the floor. If that is your question you will need to remove the carpet and pad. Then the strips on the floor with the tack nails that were installed to stretch the carpet you need to also remove. Then fill in any nail holes and wash the floor very well if you want to stain it instead of painting then sand the floor. If you are just going to paint over the hardwood floor I would still sand a bit but you don't need to. Then paint it with a quality paint. You will no doubt need to do a couple of coats.
Not sure what you are asking . . . You want to paint your wood floors?
it will help to cut the carpet (using a utility knife). Then you can just roll up the carpet in manageable strips. This will help with disposal, too. Hopefully whoever put the carpet in didn't try and "help" by tacking down the padding. Very carefully remove tack strips. Make sure the floor is clean and free from nails and staples, and it should be ready for prep for painting
