Depending on how bad the smoke smell is....wash the walls and floors with a vinegar and water solution, shampoo carpets with an odor neutralizing shampoo. Remove any drapes or curtains and wash them. If that doesn't fix the smell, you may have to replace flooring and paint walls.

my dad smoked like a chimney. It was not unusual for him to leave a lighted cig in the bathroom, one in the kitchen, and one in the tv room. Everyone thought the paint in the living room was a gold color. It wasn't. It was smoke residue. Aka tar. WEAR GLOVES. Wash walls with tsp, diluted dish soap. If you can...take the covers off the couch. Chair...etc. wash if you can. Shampoo the carpet. Wipe down all hard surfaces. Clean lamp shades. Hire a cleaning co that cleans up after fires. Clean all light fixtures. Vinager helps, fabreze helps. Clean with a citrus cleaner. Once you have got out all you can....primer and fresh paint.

I washed every thing washable and painted. Shampoo the carpet if you have that. My house stank from smoking, cooking, and wood stove. Good luck, hope this will help you

I agree-wash the interior with a vinegar and water solution. I also made sure to clean the windows and the woodwork too.

Depends how bad. I moved into a house previously owned by a heavy smoker. I had to pull up carpeting, peel off wall paper, and repaint. If more recent -- don't allow smoking in the house; steam clean carpeting and wash walls well. Then do the superficial scented candles, Febreeze, etc.

If you mean a one-and-done to get rid of cigarette smoke after a party (do people still smoke?) lighting a candle helps, but also take a dishtowel soaked in water and vinegar, wring it out, then grab one end and spin it around as you walk through the room. Soak again, wring out, and repeat. Don't know why it worked, but it did. Good luck! (And if you still smoke, quit while the choice is still yours!).

Open the windows and doors to air it out. Throw away ashtrays. Spray home and car with deoderizing spray. Next, stop smoking!

I smoked for over 45 yrs. and finally in my early 50s used the Nicoderm patch, and it worked. You CANNOT smoke with the patch on because you are defeating the purpose. Believe me, if I can do it you can do it!
