You might try sprinkling some instant dry cereal ie. Cream of wheat, around the area. The ants carry it into their home and share. When they drink the cereal expands and kills them. We drove out fireants with this.

Equal parts of confectionery sugar and baking soda sprinkle around the tree they carry it back and the baking soda kills them

I have heard that peppermint turns them away. I use a very fine powder that is scented , powder the line of ants heavily. The ants will suffocate and the scent from the ants won't be followable for the hill mates.

Cinnamon and/or talc chases house ants. I would try that.
