An Upcycled Boring Bookcase for a Kids Book Nook.

I have a set of bookcases that my mom bought my oldest daughter years ago. They work great, look decent and are functional for any room. However, my daughters room just doesn't have room for them so because I want to have a "book nook" in our family room where the girls can hang out, do homework, and read I thought I would place them in a weird corner of the room that is kind of dead space if nothing else. I put one in the corner and the other with the back facing towards our media room so it creates a closed in "book nook" which for now is what we want with what we have (basement under remodel). The back of the bookcase was not appealing to look at so I decided to get creative and because who doesn't love Dr. Seuss and his fabulous quotes? I painted one on the back. It came out adorable! My youngest even came up to me and said " Oh mommy, I love it" and my oldest said " we have the coolest family room" LOL! It made me feel great!!! I've been trying to make a fun, funky and cheerful space dedicated for my girls. We still have tons to do downstairs including new desks and carpet and curtains and....well an entire lift. But, until this spring and summer when we can finish it up I want to share with you this fun little project that every kid would enjoy looking at and hopefully inspires them to read A LOT more! ; )
