White toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. Lay the necklace down on a soft cloth or towel. Place a dab of toothpaste on he toothbrush and gently brush the necklace in one direction. Wipe and rinse.
dip it in commercial gold cleaner. If you polish it you may polish off the gold plate
