  • It can be done but now without a bit of know how. This is an intermediate to advanced DIY project. You need to be able to run the wires from the fixture in the soffit to the wall. Is there access from the attic or is this a first floor bathroom? If you can get to the wall to drill down through it to run the wire down the wall, you can easily run the wire from the junction box in the attic where the power should be and then redirect the wires down the wall through the newly drilled hole. You will cut out an electrical box and use an old construction gang box with wings which your hand could fit through to grab the wires which you just fed through from the top. If there is no access from above, then you will cut out some drywall and it is a bit more work. Now, if there is an outlet below within the same stud as the light is going to go, then you could get power from the outlet, add a switch and the light from this outlet and save some time. But DIY projects never go that easy. Take a pic for me and post it. And answer my questions: attic access above, outlet below where the light is going to go
  • The electrical lights if they are to go, need to be cut out entirely, The feed wire to them then needs to be pulled down into the center of the vanity area and fitted with a box. If the wire needs to be spliced to reach the new box location, the wire will need to be removed and replaced, or the splice box needs to be surface mounted and not buried into the soffitt area, unless its visible from the area above. No splice boxes are allowed to be buried in a wall and covered over. This electrical box needs to be secure as it will be used to not only hold the wires, but to secure the fixture from falling down off of the wall. This ideally is a not that hard of a job, but it does need to be done correctly for electrical safety. Particularly because its located in the bath area.

Oh my, from your answers I don't think I will be able to do this, as I am not too advanced in the know how of this, and cant really afford to hire someone . But I think I may have found a solution, by taking out the cheap 3 light fixture and place a small track light bar with maybe 2 or 3 pendants hanging down, Thank you very much for your expert answers and I hope you have a great day!!!
