you can paint over stain but you can't stain over paint.
Treated wood needs to really dry out. At least 6 months to 1 year before painting, staining or sealing.
I have had a contractor tell me to let the wood dry for a year before doing anything to it at all.
Years ago my dad used to go to the Garage Station & ask for some old sump oil. Wood drinks the stuff & is well conditioned. Linseed oil is cleaner & works as good. Store bought stuff is expensive.![](http://cdn-fastly.hometalk.com/resources/design/emojis/1f911.png)
