In a perfect world, your clothes would be cleaned in a timely manner and your hamper would never smell anything but fresh. In the real world, however, you have a job. And a social life. And other responsibilities that delay laundry duty.
If your clothes hamper ever straight up stinks in between laundry cycles, there are ways to buy yourself some time and keep your closet, bathroom or bedroom smelling fresh.
Here are three tricks that will keep your hamper smelling good between cycles: http://bit.ly/1iVgQLJFix Place a Dryer Sheet at the Bottom of the Hamper
Before you toss any dirty socks into the hamper, throw in an unused dryer sheet. While the fabric sheet won’t necessarily make your dirty clothes smell like roses, it will neutralize any unpleasant odors. If you don’t have dryer sheets on hand, check out this easy way to make your own reusable sheets.Fix Create a Baking Soda Buffer
If smelly clothes are a perpetual problem, keep a box of baking soda by the hamper. Every time you toss in a gym shirt, smelly socks or anything else that may contribute to an unpleasant odor, sprinkle it with baking soda. Bonus: The baking soda will help remove stains, whiten whites and brighten colors in the wash!Fix Disinfect the Actual Hamper
The smell wafting out of your closet may not be from your clothes, but rather from the hamper itself. Dirty clothes that spend extended vacations in your hamper can transfer their bacteria onto the hamper itself. Over time, these bacteria layers can smell like a high school football locker room. Every few loads, wipe your laundry hamper down with white vinegar or a disinfectant spray. This will kill any lingering bacteria and give your dirty clothes a clean space to await the washing machine.

I also keep a new, unused fabric softener sheet at the bottom of my kitchen trash can, then put a trash bag into the can, over the sheet. scented ones are best.
