Pink Bathroom in Rented Apartment. What to Do?
This is my pink bathroom. The apartment is a rental, so I can't retile. What can I do to hide it or change its color?
Just my opinion. I would frame a piece of glass, you can order solid color glass in different colors, depending on how much you want to spend and hang it from the top part on small decorative hooks, or you could get a window with panes, paint it a coordinating color and hang the same way.
A rectangular wood frame with glass shelves....always need a little more storage and display in a bathroom.
I like the look of wrought iron.
Personally I would put up a wall and a sliding barn type door. If you want to leave it the way it is try beads, alone or in a combination with chain, or lattice.
You could hang several plants there, forming a divider.
Glass blocks give privacy but let light through.
I have seen tempered glass sheets suspended in place of railings in very modern upgrades.
First just take them down. With them gone, you might be able to visualize what to put there. If you want light to get through, first just think of materials that would do that. Glass, wire mesh, screen or a sheer fabric. I would go to stores and see if they have maybe a wire type shelf that you could put there. you could just hang a curtain. How about actually building a wall and installing a light fixture on it. This would block the sink from the other parts of the room. Its kind of hard to picture the rest of the room.
Are these structural? As in, are they really necessary? They look like a decorative accessory of the 70's. I was there. Lots of silliness happened in the 70's.
If they are structural, do you need three? I'd have someone come in to advise as to whether they can be eliminated. If they are indeed structural, which would be odd resting on a vanity counter, I'd get rid of the two back ones and "box/strengthen the front one, then maybe add a couple of small shelves for plants or something - your small fan!
Here is one site with some ideas. http://www.moderndesign.org/2010/01/glass-tile.html . Also, amazing color glass block ideas on google.
If you did 2 pieces of narrow glass on each side, then put glass shelves in between the two pieces, kind of like building a shelf. You could also get 4 pieces of glass , like for a shelf, drill holes in the ends of each piece and suspend from the ceiling part with heavy duty wire. It's hard to explain my vision.
