Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.

Brick fireplace makeover with Annie Sloan chalk paint... The only prep I did was to clean the bricks as best as poss, ended up using the Hoover 2 x coats of Annie Sloan old white, I sprayed each section with water before the first coat, I found the paint went on really easy and it settled any residual dust Looked great but too white for my liking, I started wishing I'd just colour washed the white even considered scrubbing it all off! Colourwash/topcoat took 10mins Applied with a sponge

Yes That's what I painted my friend's brick fireplace with. I made my own chalk paint with semi gloss paint.
