If you find the spent or dead flower, go down the stem about three or four inches and you will see a pod. If the pod is still green, do not pick it. Go farther down the stem and find a brownish pod and pick it. Use a strainer and break the dried pod. Small seeds will appear.
After a flower withers and dies and falls off , there will be a small brown seed pod left behind at the base of the flower.The seeds are very tiny and they are in this pod. When the pod turns brown and hard, it's ripe.
