Would depend on your own skills, your kitchen vision, and how the scrounging supplies are in your area.
Check local garage sales listings on-line for give away.
Paint. You can nearly paint everything.
Declutter, reorganize cabinets and paint cabinets
1. Update cabinets with a stain/ paint.
2. Replace hardware / or spray with a metallic paint. The copper is lovely.
3. Replace window treatments/ or dye using kool add. (Use rit color remover to get a white fabric) look up DIY on kool ade dye process. You can also put all your stained kitchen towels in the same wash keeping neutral or dye .
4. Add a pop of color with canisters. Empty ceramic canisters, clean well .
Spray paint color of choice, when dry turn upside down. Put contrasting color paint in shallow pie pan , set bottom of canister in paint, then quickly turn upright and let paint dribble/ or dribble paint around bottom like drip icing on a cake .
5. Make colorful potholders. Get a 100% wool item from thrift store. Wash in hot soapy water then dry on high in dryer. This will shrink item. Cut out square, layering several pieces till thick. Sew together or use fabric no sew glue. Finish edges by using iron on wool setting along edges. You can add a loop at this time using some of wool fabric placing ends of loop between layers of fabric before ironing edge. Wool is used for it's insulating properties.
6. All other ideas are great.
