I dig them out with at least 3-4 inch roots and they keep coming back
You will have to smother them out with newpapers and cardboard, apply heavy landscape fabric and top with mulch.
Good Morning,
In order to get rid of weeds in a garden the best way is to smother them. You don't want to use a weed killing spray because it will get on and into your vegetables and poison you (and of course you know that, which is why you are asking for adivce). You don't want to squirt the weeds with a salt and dish soap solution because, although it is safe for people it isn't safe for your vegetables and they will die when the solution reaches their roots. The only solution is to cover them with a thick layer of wet newspaper, topped with black plastic, topped by a solid layer of mulch. The idea is to deprive the weeds of any light from which is where they get their growth energy. With this solution you can adjust the size of the area you are treating to fit the spread of the weeds. I hope this helps you. Thank you for using Hometalk for help. :)
how about white viniger
I pull them by hand, my husband uses a hoe to save his back.
White vinegar+ boiling water is a great non toxic option! Also roundabout works if you're interested in going the chemical route- good lucK!
1 gallon white vinegar and 1 cup Epsom salt and 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap Combine ingredients in
spray bottle and treat weeds at the hottest time of day for best results.
