look up hens and chicks....grows in almost any climate year round and spreads unless confined.....seen them buried in snow and return as soon as they start getting sun
i have hens and chicks galore and try Yucca plants they are hardy and gorgeous when blooming
Prickly pear is the best. Grows even in New England and never has to be taken in...spreads too. I started out with a tiny plant and look at it now! Hubby has even taken sections and rooted them easily in the ground and we share them with others who say "what is that?...never saw a cactus growing outdoors in NE"...check out the photo, gets lovely large yellow flowers
