You need to have the chimney inspected before making that kind of change..safety first.

Great idea! May not be a DIY though. Find out local building codes, then decide if you can switch out yourself or need to call in a pro.
Like Naomie said, do your homework and check your local codes. I agree with Sharon from Ohio in that you need to have your chimney checked as well. A chimney sweep could do all of the necessary work...just be sure to get a licensed sweep. Please don't do this switch yourself. Carbon dioxide poisoning is very real and deadly, even in today's world.
