Since I have a pet pig flies are a problem for me in the summer . But I have been successful with fly traps and fly paper and if they hang out in your windows try double sided tape.
Hi Elisa, Here's link that may help. http://rada.gov.jm/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Fruit-Fly-Control-with-MULTILURE-TRAPS.pdf
There's also a product called Azera Insecticide. I've never had the need, but may be worth checking out!
Good luck~
Inside the house, you can hang fly strips. Make sure any window and door has a tight screen, no holes. I've heard having a fan on the porch over your doorway also helps keeps them from entering as much when you come and go.
Im afraid spraying outside would only be temporary and could be toxic. Put up bird houses to encourage their natural predators to hang out. Chickens and ducks, if you are of a mind. Good luck!
IF you want to go natural, get some lizards, spiders & frogs & turn them loose in your yard. They love to eat them! I also like the bird houses idea & put up LOTS of bird feeders to bring in many different kinds of birds. :)

Get Rid of Fruit Flies {DIY Fruit Fly Trap}
Ugh, I feel you! Strong fans are the only thing I can suggest, if you can't screen your terrace, as I recall they prefer calm air. Best of luck!
I've seen food vendors at fairs in the South and they hang a storage/freezer bag full of water above their work area and ---no flies! My son hung one in his doorway when he was cooking and he had no flies. Hope it works for you!
Sugar flies? Well then here is what to do. At the far corner of your yard put a very large drum with a tight lid. Add what the flies are attracted to, like sugar waste or what ever is bringing those flies in. Add a lot and then put water in the barrel up to half way maybe a little more. Put the lid on tight and push the barrel from side to side to get that icky stuff on the upper inside lid. Now take a sharp knife and puncture a few holes in the top that will fit a fly to squeeze in.
They will be able to go in but cannot get out. We get a few fly problems here sometimes and I use a jar , water and icky smelly stuff, then slit holes in the lid . I then put it where they won't bother me. Going over to look the next day and it grossed me out, it was full of flies and more were trying to get in. I tossed the jar in the trash and made another one. I did paint the lids bright yellow so it also attracted wasp. No flies all summer in my house. So you can paint a big sun flower on the lid of the drum to attract both flies and other insects. I say use a drum so that you don't have to toss little jars all summer and winter or what ever.
If you want, you can start with the jar to see if it works for you. I was just thinking, that if this does the trick then you can tell others and then maybe wipe out the fly population in a few years. Or maybe not. LOL
