I am here in northern Texas (just a few miles from OK) and everything is burning up...even things that normally have no problems in the heat are looking stressed and developing either yellow leaves or burnt looking leaves. I pulled out all my zucchini. It has been a strange summer....lots of rain and cool one day and steaming the next. I'm as confused as my poor plants.
Try making shade for them. They sell landscape fabric by the yard just for this purpose.
If you use soaker hoses in your garden you can water more frequently to keep the soil moist easier. My garden is up two steep terraces and I run a hose up to the garden that is attached to one of those contraptions that have multiple hose ends to attach to my four soaker hoses. All I have to do is turn the water on at the house. This way if I need to water frequently I can do it any time of day for however long it takes to water the garden deep enough. Make sure you use grass clippings or something around your plants to help keep the moisture in. If need be, water more than once a day.
do you have any beach umbrellas. Usually you can find them really cheap this time of year, since they are starting to put Christmas stuff out already. Put one over each of your pepper plants to shield them from the heat. It's hot here in VA too!
Thanks everybody. I now understand it is the heat that is getting to everybody Plants. Also I did see a very reasonable price on a beach umbrella at Walmart. So off I go.
Water more but only in the evening when sun it going down
