if you are looking for something to plant, its rather late for that, but tomatoes should still come up, and zucchini, radishes and beans are all things a lot of people replant when their plants are done, so you have time for those. If you are looking for flowering, mums are good, as well as petunias, and inpatients, if you have a shady spot
If you're talking about flower gardens, you have a choice of annual (which do not come back every year, although some do) or perennial (these usually come back each spring). I tend to stick with perennials now that I'm older. I plant annuals in my pots.
