To use Round-up to kill trumpet vine, cut the plant off at the ground and paint the fresh cut stump with full strength Round-up.

Or cut plant and use white vinegar, several times until it is gone
I wish I had your problem. I have been trying to find a trumpet vine that doesn't cost a fortune here in southern AL. I have 800 ft of fence I need to cover. Have you tried digging it out to the bottom of the root?
You can cut it back, and put boiling water on it.

Darn spell check..I ended up yankng it root by root.then in a coupe of weeks I yanked it up again 3+years and every now and then I find one to contend with I was feeling a bit terse on night wen a neighbor asked don't you like that? I said no offered her some..her reply? "God no youll never get rid of it!"
I know just how to get rid of those for we had one I killed accidently! I cut it down to the root and hit it with stump killer! It shriveled up and didn't come back....ever!
If you don't plan on planting there again hot salt water may do the trick..if you want to plant there lift the concrete and remove ..the accursed and pray . I dropped the cement pad on my left hand one broken finger 1 lost nail and the phsyciatrist says I'll be better by Christmas..take care!

They are a real bugger good luck! I think maybe try salt and vinegar.
This is just the thing! I find this works wonderfully. You have to cut the vine and then brush this on the top of where you cut it. Bonide It will travel down to the roots and kill the plant.
