DAY LILY - each flower flowers for only one day. every year plant increases in size - you can end up with quite a large clump. Hope that helps
yes, each bloom on daylillies last one day, there are a few varieties, like the Stella D Oras that will have 2 or 3 more blooms, aas long as you deadhead all the first blooming stalks. they will not be as vigorous as the first blooming. orangey yellow, purple are my favorite ones. they like sun, hostas like shade or part sun . you can divide each plant after they are done blooming. if u want to put them elsewhere?.
The day lilies only bloom once a summer. You can cut the stems off and look for a few other perennials that bloom in late summer to plant in between them.
There are early season bloomers, mid season bloomers, late season bloomers and also re-blooming ones. You need some of each type to keep flowers all season long.
this is 3rd time i have tried to answer u. dead heading is snapping off dead blooms so they don't go to seed, plus cutting stems off close to ground, so new shootss can come up, thus new blooms, on certain varieties, like the stella de ora daylillies.
