The instructions of putting a white napkin on my dining room table and then an iron medium heat not realizing I should not have used napkin that had a pattern in the fabric so when I pulled up the iron, only there for a few seconds the napkin kind of stuck to the table little bit and left an imprint of an iron. it did remove the white stain but it left an imprint of the iron. is there any possible way to get rid of that I think it must have burned through the varnish. I've already tried wood cleaner polish, vinegar and canola oil, old English scratch polish. please help if possible thank you.

I had a water stain on mine and used tooth paste on a soft cloth in a small area which acted as a mild abrasive; looked good so I continued - then use grade 6 steel wool (it's very fine and often used in finish repair) to complete the job. Used paste wax on my high shine finish table and it was perfect!

I can't think of any solution but to sand table top and re-varnish,or consider painting with wall or chalk paint.

It looks like the burn is just in the top coat (shellac or poly if it's newer). take some toothpaste (not the gel type) and rub it with a damp cloth. The touthpase has pumice in it which is a very fine abraisive that will cut thru the top layer of the coating. (this works great for water circles also) afterwards polish with a good furniture polish. If that doesn't work then the burn is too deep. The only other option left is to refinish the tabletop. If the piece is old and/or very valuable, then take it to a professional restorer. They may be able to repair it in a way that will not destroy its value. Otherwise you can paint it, cover it with pennies or tile, mosaic, decoupage, or host of many other ideas you can find right here on Hometalk. Good Luck

I have heard of using Vaseline over night and then wipe off with a lintfree cloth or I have also heard you can you baking soda or salt with alittle water to form a paste and gently rub I used this and it took several attempts to get rid of the stain and it did but be careful not to rub too hard if you use salt as it may scratch alittle bit I used oil polish after and it shined right up
