Best way to fix a large indention/hole in a textured wall?

It is almost 2 feet by 2.5" in size, much bigger than anything I ever attempted to fix!

Is there a chance you can post a picture so we have a better idea of what you are needing?

At your local hardware store you will find a square metal mesh patch made for these problems..they come in a few sizes and i just used one same as your hole size. Cut patch to fit hole plus 1 inch around.

Take an exacto knife....very gently cut into drywall a square to fit metal patch VERY IMPORTANT to NOT GO ALL THE WAY THRU... About 1-2 mm..Peel top paper drywall off around hole.

Mud gently around hole...put on patch....smooth with flat scraper..let dry 24 hrs...sand very little edges....next day...then with wider scraper remud whole patch extending mud to wall smooth all the way around patch..you will end up with appr. a 1 foot circle mudded patch...wait 24 hrs.sand .prime.sand lightly .paint..sand lightly...paint..

    Hope that helps

You can also go thru same steps without metal patch....use mesh drywall tape few pieces...not paper tape..

    Sorry

Thought your hole was 2 inches

    Not 2 feet

You must! Cut to 2x4 in walls. Cut only to half of 2x4. On each side...and replace new piece. Tape and mud seams

I have also done this to avoid the above.. Take 2x4 or 1x2 and place it ( small pieces) in wall to half sides of drywall...leave half showing in hole. screw with drywall screws to from good dywall (dont worry mud will cover all). Now you have something to screw new drywall patch to.

    Tape mud...yadda yadda...
