there are rubber pieces that can go under the rug to keep from moving.....as much.

Heavy duty Velcro will do the trick

Your coffee table must be lightweight, too. Can you put something heavy at each end of the table? That might help. We use a webbed rubber-like liner under ours, on top of the carpet. But some rugs have legs and they just have to crawl. Best wishes šŸ˜‡

My coffee table is very heavy and on carpet not bare floor.

  • Rubber carpet pad under the rug. Sold almost everywhere and not expensive.

SORRY TO SAY IT WON'T DO WHAT YOU WANT DUE TO THE LEGS. I'VE DELT AND TRIED A MILLION THINGS OVER THE YEARS WITH NO LUCK.

Wow. You could try to stick on pads or Velcro on the bottom of the table legs. If that doesnt work, try a different rug or even a big towel and see if it does the same thing. You have a nice little mystery going there, but I'm sure you will feel better when you find the cause and the solution. Bless your heart šŸ˜‡

I think it's impossible to stop it crawling if it has a rubber backing. I had the same problem and gave up. Bought a different rug without rubber back.
