try warming it up with a hairdrier
Scrape it with a putty knife or drip really hot water on it and wipe it off.

You can remove any residue with a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water.

Nail polish will do it...may take a few times of application though.
What is the counter made of. You can use a towel and iron. You out the towel on the wax and then the iron the towel. The towel absorbs the wax. Just make sure the heat won't wreck the counter.
